This article is about superdelegates in general. For a list of 2016 Democratic superdelegates, see List of Democratic Party superdelegates, 2016.
“In American politics, a “superdelegate” is a delegate to the Democratic National Convention who is seated automatically and chooses for whom they want to vote. These Democratic Party superdelegates include distinguished party leaders, and elected officials, including all Democratic members of the House and Senate and sitting Democratic governors. Other superdelegates are chosen during the primary season. Democratic superdelegates are free to support any candidate for the presidential nomination. This contrasts with convention “pledged” delegates who are selected based on the party primaries and caucuses in each U.S. state, in which voters choose among candidates for the party’s presidential nomination. Because they are free to support anyone they want, super delegates could potentially swing the results to nominate a presidential candidate who did not receive the majority of votes during the primaries.”
Re-read the last four lines, starting with “Because……” What it’s basically saying, is that the people in power, within the Democratic (that’s a joke in itself) Party, just stole your right to elect candidates. So, hundreds of millions of voters mean nothing! A handful of people in office get to decide the candidate. Why bother to play the game anymore, of a “Government by the people”.
The Republican Party is doing the same in their own way and is no better. The power players decide they don’t want Trump as a candidate, regardless of what their constituents want. So once again a handful of the power people within the party get together and decide how they age going to undo the candidate of the people’s choice.
We the people of this country have a very big problem here, today. Do we have a right to vote? The answer of course, would be a resounding yes by everyone. It’s in our Constitutional Amendments, isn’t it? Once again, there would be no disagreement about our right to vote. What is going on today though is a game, in which the citizens are the ones being gamed.
The following quote (from the book “Knots – R.D. Laing) hits the nail on the head:
“They are playing a game. They are playing at not playing a game. If I show them I see they are, I shall break the rules and they will punish me. I must play their game, of not seeing I see the game”
― R.D. Laing
That’s it – that’s the game. Campaigns and speeches galore. Vote for the candidate of your choice. This is America, where every vote counts. Get out and vote – it’s your duty, your right and obligation. That’s what a free country is all about. This is why we go to war and people give their lives, to fight for our freedom and rights, one of which is to elect the candidates of our choice. The only thing is, the people’s candidate of choice, means nothing. It’s who the power players want to put up to run this country.
I love this title line from a Bob Dylan song: “Only a pawn in their game”.
Well people, at some time the game have to stop or it’s goodbye the land of the free.
Every country at some time has overthrown their government and power leaders. I think our time has come. A must read:
It’s MY LIFE and MY COUNTRY & I want it, is the name
